-I found out I still have time to take the three tests needed to apply for teaching. Just working on finding out the costs.

-I've called the nearby high school about volunteering. Waiting for a call back.

-I killed my Myspace account and am pleased with how little it's bothering me.

-I am...daunted by how much planning it takes to not eat out. And am trying to find easy (easy, super easy) recipes so that I can get over how very stressful it can be, watching mofos eat burgers and delivered pizza all around you at work while you whip out a PB & J. No, not even that I necessarily want some. Just feeling on the outs and have folks look at me when I say "No, saving money. Sorry." As if it's a foreign concept. Yep. I'm looking at allrecipes.com -- just saying. It's daunting when you've never cooked for yourself. I'll get there. And I'm considering ordering a paper or buying just on Sundays to get coupons to try to plan things out for the week...

-I am working on a budget that I can live with so that I can leave the plastic at home. I want to spend what I allow myself on =doing= something rather than buying fast food out of a need for comfort. And no more coffee drinks unless I'm out with another person. That's like drinking alcohol alone. It's sad. Especially when we =have= a coffeemaker at home, glaring at me for not using it.

-Deferring my student loans. Again. I met a guy who, with his lady, paid for his house in three years because he hates debt and his parents set a bad example, going into bankruptcy several times and still spending on electronics and clothes. He said: "It wasn't bad. No TV, no car, and no credit cards. And we had fun. It was just free fun." When they went to their favorite Chinese restaurant, the owner remembered them. She wondered why she hadn't seen them. They explained and she said: "Congratulations! I didn't think Americans could do that." She gave them a small break on their dinner and a glass of wine for each of them. He's my budget inspiration guy. This debt thing is getting old. And I don't even have a car. I'm working on finding budget stuff that works for me.

Thai curries are easy? I really do need to just give it a go and find out how to make some stuff. There've got to be recepies that you can just have warm in the cooker all day. And have rice there and just throw it in a bowl and eat it. And if there's a lot, take it to work. Hmm. I love beans, too. Except not so much with the lentils. Black beans, kidney beans, even lima beans -- I will tear into them!

Thanks for the tips!

Crockpots are your FRIEND. Not just the whole set it and forget it thing, but its one pot. That thrills me SO MUCH because I am one of those people who scramble to get everything done on time.

I also love pressure cookers. Fast but taste like you cooked for HOURS.

I have a crockpot, too! I should just throw stuff in it and take leftovers for lunch since it's just Eric and me. Pressure cookers, however, scare me. Heh. I'll start with the crockpot.

Yeah, I'm not getting rid of my computer, either. I am willing to scale back in a lot of other places. And I will absolutely hit you up on how to search for stuff to do :D

You know, I've never thought of drinking coffee by yourself the same as drinking alcohol by yourself but since caffeine is an addictive substance I can understand it. Unfortunately I lead a pretty solitary life so if I'm doing most things I have to do them by myself most of the time.

I know the feeling. Eric sleeps a LOT. I do a lot on my own as well. Hard to organize things to meet the local friends I DO have. =/

I know what you mean about planning not to eat out. The thing that gets us is planning and shopping on the weekend so that we have everything on hand for the week. Well, that and the time that it takes to make food.

Oh, you getting rid of your myspace account reminds me of when I got rid of my facebook account. I never got a myspace account as I consider that place an ugly mess and I always hated going to myspace pages each with their own music playing. I like to be in control of what I listen to on my computer.

Good luck with clearing the debt. I know its not easy. have you looked into recipezaar? I love their website and people rate the recipes. I also buy a lot of stuff from Sams club. In the end it saves alot especially if you can get a friend to split it with. I watch a lot of movies and shows online for free. That allowed me to get rid of the cable last year and saved me 60 a month.
