Coffee Squirrel

Daughters of The Dust

I was SO excited to find this! Just seeing the clips reminds me of just how GORGEOUS this movie is. Interesting, though, how in the voiceover she speaks of how 'different' they were. I don't know. Perhaps she only meant to say these specific African-Americans were afforded a way to keep a more direct line back to Africa. I don't know. I admit to overreacting sometimes, but I heard: "You won't find darkies sangin' and dancin' here!!" What's wrong with dancing? Why is it 'our' problem that some non-blacks (hell, some blacks) don't think think there's more to it than that. I'm having a sensitive day. Forgive me. I'll be less fragile when I'm able to enjoy my break from school during 'Thanksgiving'. At any rate: this is SO not a knock against the movie. SEE IT NOW!
