I'm going to be gone for the weekend. I'm going to check out Portland and the surrounding area for a long weekend. I have homework for you, should you choose to do it. I'm a movie freak, as is evident to anyone reading. I haven't seen nearly as many as I'd like. And making one would be fabulous.
The point is, I love sharing the joy of little-known films that I think are inspiring. Even some of those nominated for an Award can be overlooked.
Here are a couple. One I've mentioned before. I think the one I'm excited about right now, and the one I want to see again soon (I saw it years ago in Nashville) is Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist. It's fabulous. There's something about the dynamic of their relationship that reminds me of Eric and myself. But I'm not a dominatrix. And Eric is not a masochist. If anyone has seen us together, tell me if you agree. We actually aren't even seen much together except at the coffee shop across the street from our house and the bar down the block. Eric being a caffiene addict and an alcoholic, those are the places we frequent. Aside from being reminded of myself, it's a great film and a sweet love story beneath some cringe-inducing moments. You can cover your eyes for those. I don think it's worth enduring those parts to get a full picture of this man's life, his relationship with his wife, and his battle with his disease.
The second one, Genghis Blues you should have seen already. You did rent it, didn't you? *taps foot impatiently* If you have, please do let me know what you thought. Anyway. I hope you all have a great weekend! I expect to hear back from all of you. No. But it would be nice if you saw these films.
