Coffee Squirrel

Word Up!

On the way to work, I was reading (finally) A History of the Vikings by Gwen Jones. I got to it after being distracted by a few books on Mental Illnesses. I was reading about the topography and the different types of people across Jutland and Zealand -- trying to specifically soak up info about Denmark. I was trying to concentrate, but these visions kept popping through of Larry Blackmon of Cameo dancing around with his red cod-piece. What the two have to do with each other, I don't know. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as I rode to work. I think this bodes well for a nice trip tonight.

The only bad thing is missing Eric while I'm gone. What can you do? I'm gonna hang with the family. I'll see T and meet up with cerulean_scars as well. Should be nice. It's going to be a long bus ride. I'm hoping I'll sleep or read through it.

Best holiday wishes for those who are traveling to see family. Best until I'm able to update again.

Abortion Meme, Law & Order SVU spoiler

(From anthony_arndt)

If you agree with this statement, post it in your journal:

I am pro-choice. I would help a woman get an abortion. I don't have any harrowing stories. I just think it's too private a thing to be legislated unless there's some pretty outstanding circumstances involved. I know that for my mom, the pill was dibilitating in it's 1960's form: mood swings, nausea, heavy clotting blood. She couldn't handle it. And she was married. Catholic marriages and all: we all came one right after the other. She considers herself pro-life; as does my sister.

It's not even just an ignorance about birth control thing. And I seriously don't think that those who choose to have an abortion of "convenience" (as if it's fun)would automatically be bad parents. Things happen. I wouldn't want anyone deciding for me. Luckily even my mom and sister agree that it's ridiculous to make someone feel bad who's had one.

*If you have never had a uterus but you want to participate, feel free to substitute the statement "I am pro-choice. I would help a woman get an abortion" instead of "I'm pro-choice, and I would have an abortion." The implications are slightly different, but solidarity is just as important.
